Mainline Clones have been designed to give you a durable hookbait that can be fished over a bed of particles and will match it in both colour and flavour.
The main purpose of Clones is, as the name suggests, to "clone" whatever particle or spod mix you're casting and replicate it in a "match-the-hatch" hookbait, which is much more practical to use than the particle itself. This is especially true because some particle baits are too small or too soft to actually use on your rigs, and certainly if you want to be able to be sure your bait stays on the hair and performs as it should for extended periods of time—baits like sweetcorn, for example.
The Clones are available in four different types/flavours, in both 13mm pop-ups and 10mm x 14mm wafters and, although primarily designed for use on particles, have also proven to be very effective in all fishing situations during testing.
Nutty Hemp
Hemp is one of the greatest fish attractors, and carp love eating this oily seed, so much so that when they're on your bait, you can see slicks of it hitting the surface! Hemp is also visually appealing, as this shiny, dark brown/black seed stands out against the lakebed thanks to the white specks that result from the seed splitting and the beginning of germination. To mimic this, not only in flavor but also in appearance, Clones Hemp pop-ups and wafters are a two-tone dark black and slightly off-white.
Mapple
Maple peas are a largely forgotten bait, but they've always been very effective. Carp love these sweet, dark brown particles, which release an attractive cloud when cooked until soft and oozing with flavor. Clones Maple pop-ups and wafters are brown with that delicious, unmistakable maple flavor.
Sweet Corn
Sweetcorn has been around as a carp bait since the 1970s and has played a role in catching countless carp over the years. It's still one of the most effective carp baits around, recently experiencing a resurgence in popularity. Clones Sweetcorn pop-ups and wafters are bright yellow and have a delicious corn flavor and smell. They're a great hookbait for fishing for goldfish.
Tigernut
There's no denying that carp love tiger nuts! Their crunchy, sticky sugars are released when prepared, and this bait has a unique nutty flavor. Clones Tiger Nut pop-ups and wafters are off-white with darker spots and taste just like tiger nuts. Perfect for fishing on whole and crushed nuts (like Power Particle Nut Crush) or on a bed of bait if you need to avoid a tiger nut ban.
