Caproic acid or hexanoic acid, Caproic Acid, as it's sometimes known, is a naturally occurring oily liquid found primarily in animal fats and oils, and is used primarily in the production of high-quality pharmaceuticals. In short, Caproic Acid is a sister product to the legendary N-butyric acid, but while it undoubtedly boasts an equally distinctive aroma—and is certainly comparable to carp-catching—it's not as bad on the nose.
Our suggestion is that you should use Caproic in any quantity up to 2ml per 500g blend as your main scent or at half that level with the flavour or essential oil of your choice.
